"I propositioned Andersen Construction with an overwhelming project. Construct Yard, the first high-rise multi-family project in Portland’s coveted east side, under close public scrutiny. Complete the project with a thin budget without compromising complicated architecture. If not enough, 84’ running diagonally below the surface of the site, is a 26’ diameter pipe carrying Portland’s east side waste water to the waste water treatment plant. The pipe is protected by an easement preventing any deep foundation work from penetrating the area above and around the pipe. The seasoned geotechnical team called the most complicated project they’ve worked on in their careers. Andersen responded with a project team making the job seem simple plus an absolute pleasure to work with. They brought well-conceived ideas and enthusiasm to the intricate project. Reacting to the various twist and turns a project can take, the team never let go of a positive attitude and the highest level of professionalism. The project was delivered with a craftsman’s eye for details, the construction budget intact, tenants occupying the building within the schedule put forth at the beginning of the project."
