Innovation

BIM/VDC

Andersen’s goal for utilizing BIM is very simple. We use BIM whenever and however it benefits the owner.

We are fully engaged in the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) technologies to streamline workflows and enhance collaboration. We have expertise in Revit, AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, Laser Scanning, Syncro, and many other BIM/VDC technologies. We have successfully implemented BIM on nearly every project we execute. All of these projects benefit from the power that 3D coordination brings.BIM should be utilized when it is a cost effective solution. The trick is to not BIM too much or too little, but just right.

Sustainability

Andersen's green building program goes beyond the traditional approach.

To achieve high levels of green building certification in construction, Andersen focuses on efficiency with environment, energy and people. From efficiency comes savings. Saving time, saving resources, and ultimately saving the environment. We employ technology to maximize efficiency. In this process we have all but eliminated the paper document and replaced it with real-time electronic information instantly available to all members of the project team through smart devices. This improves the velocity and quality of the project and dramatically cuts cost. Our results include over 60 LEED certified projects.

Lean

Lean principles are a game changing step to improve the construction industry.

Continuous improvement and reduction of waste come from Lean principles we implement on our jobsites. We strive to commit the entire design and construction team to a singular goal of providing the best possible building to an owner. It has changed the way we think, the way we procure trade partners, the way we collaborate, and the way we do business. Our Lean innovation process includes last planner schedules, target value design, 5S workshops, improved safety, co-location, guiding principles and overall improvement in team coordination.

Safety

Andersen's safety record is twice as safe as the national average.

Andersen has a core value regarding safety: We do it safely or we don’t do it. What that means to us is to find safe ways to complete our tasks and ultimately our projects. Our brand is our reputation, and our safety reputation has a big impact on obtaining future work and maintaining a top notch workforce. Our employees and our subcontractors are entitled to a safe, comfortable working environment. We also owe it to the public to ensure our work activities and areas do not pose a safety risk to them. As such, we have successfully completed complex projects on occupied campuses and in both urban neighborhoods and remote areas without incidents involving the general public or our client’s employees.
