Providence St. Vincent M Floor Upgrade

< Back to Portfolio

Located on the fourth floor of St Vincent’s main 10-level, 296,000 SF patient tower, the “M Floor” was completely demolished and rebuilt.

Built in multiple phases to minimize disruption, the first phase includes removal of the M Floor's “floor”, which includes 27,000 SF of concrete topping slab directly above a family birthing center and NICU. This also includes asbestos abatement (by Owner), waterproofing and placement of new concrete. Nearly all of the M Floor’s existing mechanical & electrical equipment were replaced with new state-of-the-art equipment. This includes 11 air handlers and 17 exhaust fans.

Completing this challenging project required 50+ shutdowns to the hospital, which were all carefully planned to never affect hospital operations. Portions of work were completed at night and on weekends, and all daytime work was separate from patients and hospital staff.
