The Perkins School project was a 5,500 SF renovation and addition to an existing private elementary school in Seattle's Maple Leaf neighborhood. The renovations included modifications to existing interior walls, stairs, and kitchen plus accessibility upgrades including a lift. The addition consisted of construction of two new classrooms, expansion of the existing multi-purpose room with ancillary circulation, storage and restroom, accessibility upgrades, and structural and envelope improvements to existing exterior walls. Educational sustainability systems were also incorporated, including a rainwater reclamation system which feeds an interior sink and will be used to water their future garden, a solar powered classroom, and a light monitor to allow for greater usage of natural daylighting.
