The project began with the demolition of four existing structures on three different properties to make way for the new Kuni BMW of Beaverton car dealership. The soil conditions on the nearly 200,000 SF site was in poor condition and required the installation of 239 Geopiers. Geopiers are crushed rock structural supports placed under the building.
The two story 49,500 SF building is constructed of structurally reinforced CMU block and structural steel. The showroom portion of the building is clad in Citadel White metal panel with a glass curtain wall system at the radius. On the East side of the building is the Service Reception drive which has a Clinker tile floor. Clinker tile is a fully vitrified tile that is installed on a 2 ½ mortar bed on top of the concrete. The only licensed installers for the clinker tile product are based out of Atlanta, GA and have to travel to the site from all over the country.
The 8,000 SF showroom boasts 20' tall ceilings and a tile floor. The modern design of the building includes metal chambers in the GWB and full glass offices throughout. The second floor is home to the administrative offices as well as the IT department and 2 conference/training rooms.
The 28,000 SF Service Building is attached to the Northern portion of the Showroom. It includes 38 service work bays. The Service Building is also completed tiled with a red Clinker tile. Above the Service Building is a parking deck for nearly 100 cars. The parking deck is constructed out of Caltite concrete, which is a waterproof concrete. The total parking capacity for the site is an excess of 200 cars.
